Job Description

RK Dixon is seeking applicants for an experienced Support Engineer to work on its Support Services team. This is an excellent opportunity to join our fast-paced and expanding IT Group. The individual in this role must be able to prioritize the importance of customer/end user calls and systems outages as to least affect the ability of the customer and its employees to continue the business and service to clients. Involvement in solution development and ongoing support of a broad range of systems and network solutions.

Duties/ Responsibilities: 

  • Answers, evaluates and prioritizes incoming calls, voicemail, e-mail and in-person requests for IT service in a professional courteous manner
  • Follows standard help desk operating procedures to accurately log all requests and customer communications using ticketing software
  • Builds rapport and gathers further information from managed services customers
  • Install and configure operating system & applications according to documented procedures
  • Create and administer user accounts and permissions according to documented procedures
  • Performs Systems Administration (Active Directory, Firewall, Web Filter, VOIP, Office 365 etc.)
  • Perform Server remediation (Windows OS, Terminal Services, Backups etc.)
  • Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support
  • Engage third party vendors and partners to resolve hardware and software problems
  • Maintains records of daily data communications transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities

Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and adhere to our IT Core values
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills of computers, Microsoft Operating Systems (including Windows 7, 8 & 10, Windows Server 2008, 2012 & 2016), networking (TCP/IP), and various PC end-user applications (MS Office, Exchange, Terminal Services, VPNs, etc.)
  • Experience in Desktop/Laptop hardware & software installation, troubleshooting and maintenance including: peripherals such as printers, scanners, etc.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing, with a positive customer service attitude
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Education/ Desired Skills:

  • Associates degree required / Bachelor's degree preferred
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft/Cisco Industry Certifications preferred
